A peek behind the curtain, a bit of reflection, and a question for you.
Back in May, I hit a big milestone: my 100th FlossTube episode! Cue the confetti, happy tears, and general stitchy excitement. 🥳 It felt like a moment worth celebrating in a proper Two Little Kits way — so I designed a mystery cross-stitch kit especially for the occasion.
The FlossTube Celebration Mystery Kit was a limited-time surprise offering, designed to mark the journey I’ve been on with FlossTube and share the joy with you, my lovely community.
Today, I thought I’d finally reveal the full design, share a little behind-the-scenes, and chat a bit about how the idea came about (and how it went!).
The Mystery Revealed

I wanted something bright, fun, and celebratory, with a little nod to my brand. The design is simply a party fox - because it had to be a fox, of course! Honestly? It was so fun to design.

Why a Mystery Kit?
I’ve never released a mystery kit before this one, but the idea came to me when I was reflecting on how my FlossTube has played a big part of my life over the past 4 years. I wanted to do more than just say “thank you” to everyone who has watched (and maybe even subscribed). I wanted to create something tangible that others could stitch and feel part of the 100th episode moment too.
Keeping the design a secret added a little fun -a sprinkle of anticipation- and gave it a feeling of “if you know, you know”. I loved knowing people received their kits and find out what the final piece would look like as they stitched.
A Little Quiet on the Sales Front
Now here’s the honest bit: it didn’t sell as well as I’d hoped.
And I don’t say that for sympathy — more as a curious musing aloud. I’ve been wondering:
Was it the mystery element that made people hesitate?
Was the timing just off? Not enough lead-up or time to purchase?
Or was it simply not something people wanted?
Don’t get me wrong — those of you who did get it are so lovely, and your support truly made the whole thing worthwhile. 🧡 But it’s had me thinking…
Would you be more likely to purchase a kit if you knew the design in advance? Did you know I have a full cross-stitch kit available right now of one of my designs?
Should I Do More of These?
Since the initial excitement (and then the quiet), I’ve found myself going back and forth on whether this should be a one-time thing or the beginning of something new. What if I released a small surprise kit every month? Or offered a subscription box that includes a tiny exclusive pattern, some goodies, and a seasonal or themed design?
Would that be fun? Too much? A great excuse to always have something new to stitch?
